Jerry's Party!

The Federal Defender's Office hosted a party for Jerry yesterday, October 14, 2005. Jerry and his wife, Roz, drove up from Coley Cove, to attend. The Orlando and Tampa offices made a video for Jerry encouraging Jerry in his recovery, which was shown during the party in Jacksonville. A gift basket was presented, which included many wonderful presents, including several books on tape, including Kirk Douglas's memoir about his recovery from his stroke, called Stroke of Luck, and Lance Armstrong's memoir. Other gifts included a UofF Gator's Notebook with all the stats and info on the current Florida Gators football team.

We all shared food, conversation and laughter in the new conference room, then Jerry got a tour of all the new interior improvements that had been completed in the office in the past months. The office really is looking beautiful. [Kudos to Fletcher Peacock for getting this done and for the beautiful design choices! It really is a showplace.]

The most wonderful thing for me was seeing Jerry walk on his own power. With the aid of a walker, but no other assistance, Jerry made his way downstairs to the car after stopping to talk to John at Combs Barber Shop.

It was a wonderful party. Jerry is continuing to make terrific progress, and I know that before we know it he will be back to work.

Photos and videos were made during the party and we hope to upload some soon.
