Here is an email from May 9, 2005 on how Jerry was doing that day:

Apparently he is alert, and has made some good improvement from Friday. Roz asked him his SSN and he was able to give it to her as they have removed the ventilator and he is now able to speak, but they are trying to keep it to a minimum. when I hear more I'll let you know. I was able to talk to Frank Murphy this morning, Wendy Wieser the other day and have gotten an e/m through to Mike Cosenza. please keep Jerry and family in your prayers - thanks for caring, Peggi
